Isle A La Cache Museum.

Island of the Hiding Place is the translation for the French phrase Isle a la Cache . Located on the Des Plaines River in Romeoville, Illinois this island and its museum strive to take visitors back to the 1700’s when French voyageurs traveled down rivers into unknown places to trade their wares with Potowatomi Indians.
School children are taken back 250 years and see the land through the eyes of a Potowatomi squaw and a French voyageur. By playing Native American games and taking part in trades, they realize first hand how the two cultures were blended.
